Newcastle and the Hunter are closely connected to both the work I am proud of and some of the most difficult commercial chapters of my life. I think it is more credible to say that plainly than to publish a sanitised biography.

What the region gave me

The Hunter provided opportunities to work with trades, developers, property owners and sustainable-building ideas in a practical environment.

What went wrong belongs in the story

Not every project or business outcome was successful. Commercial disputes and failures became part of the public record.

Why I still write about Newcastle

A place should not be reduced to the worst business experience connected to it. Newcastle remains an important part of my professional history and my interest in construction, regional SMEs and sustainable technology.
